A twisted rubber arm

So I have begun the oh-so-fun task of editing an electronic pile of photos I recently shot at a bud's brother's wedding.  Now I don't really do weddings, there is just something about capturing sacred moments that makes me a bit nervous and formulates a desire to play Russian roulette with a dirty handgun.  In my limited experience, wedding photography usually equals boring, demanding and uninspiring work (especially when you’re doing it for free).   However, I have found that if you get drunk while shooting, it gets a lot better. :-)

To be honest, I find myself more of a landscape, candid photographing, macro, and wildlife sort of guy.  However, I am also a sucker for helping a friend in need.  So back to my heaping pile of photos and my new found way of avoiding working on said pile.  I figured. “Hey, why not share in the monotony of editing a couple hundred smiling table shots with strangers”.  I’ve heard misery loves company.

So go burn a bag of popcorn and let the fun begin.

To make my laborious photo editing job easier, I decided to separate the photos into categories (we all know some photos do not play well with others).  So drum roll please! I’m going to start with the photos pre-ceremony.  However, before I do. I know you are all as amped as cocaine addicted lab monkeys to see my fantabulous photos, but my skewed moral compass will only allow me to share the photos I took sans wedding party people.  Crazy I know!  It’s how I roll.

So the first photo I’m going to share was shot with my trusty Nikon system from the corner of the hall, next to a pool.  Yup you read right, I said a pool.  Talk about hot and humid!   I had to act fast to capture this shot.  The old couple were restless and I wanted to capture the boredom I noticed on the older dude, as it resonated with my own feelings at the time.   I did a mild edit, bringing a bit of warmth, contrast and sharpness to the shot.  However, there is no saving that carpet.   No matter how hard I tried, that carpet was so busy it just trapped the eye in f'ugly land.  I should edit out the carpet, do'ya think the bride would notice?

For this one I broke out the fish eye...good times.  It need's a bit more work...but...er...maybe tomorrow.

So the arch had flowers stuffed all around the base and sides. I could not resist a bit of a close up.

The way the chair material shone in the light begged me to take a closer look.  So much more interesting than a bunch of people, don't you agree?

Wow, getting late.  I will have to continue tomorrow.
